You can change both the input device (a microphone) and output device (headphones or speakers) in Adobe Audition through the menu at the top.
Follow these steps:
- Go to Edit->Preferences->Audio Hardware
- Chose your devices from the Default Input and Default Output drop-down menus
- Click OK.
