In Audacity, you can speed up and slow down your audio using a Change Tempo or a Change Speed effect.
The difference between the two is that the Change Speed effect will affect the pitch while the Change Tempo effect won’t.
Apply Change Tempo in Audacity:
- Select your audio recording
- Go to Effect->Change Tempo
- Adjust Percent Change
- Adjust Percent Change below 0 to slow down your audio
- Adjust Percent Change above 0 to speed up your audio
Normal audio:
100% sped up audio with Change Tempo:
-50% slowed down audio with Change Tempo:
Apply Change Speed in Audacity:
- Select your audio recording
- Go to Effect->Change Speed
- Adjust Speed Multiplier
- Increase the Speed Multiplier above 1 to speed up audio
- Decrease the Speed Multiplier below 1 to slow down audio
2 times sped up audio with Change Speed:
