How to Crossfade Audio in Audacity?

Audacity has built-in crossfade effects: Crossfade clips and Crossfade tracks. Both of which will enable you to crossfade multiple tracks into a smoother transition.

To crossfade your audio from two tracks within Audacity, we’ll use the Crossfade Tracks effect. Follow these steps:

  • Place two tracks across each other with a slight overlap
  • Select the overlapping parts in both of the tracks
  • Go to Effect->Crossfade Tracks
  • Click Apply.

If necessary, you can apply the same effect twice for more fade out and fade in effect.
